Make A Difference Day This is pretty cool... and worth taking a look into and considering to take part of as a participant. HOWEVER, limiting it to just one occasion or one day gets me thinking... actually this idea occurred to me just a few moments ago.
I stopped on my way home at Walmart tonight, there's one by my work just before I enter the freeway (YES, I shop at Walmart, I know all about the other stuff...but hey y'all, I'm super poor k...and I gotta shop where I gotta shop to get quantity for now anyway, so please no haters of Walmart commenting on this k... let's share the luv) *smiles* Anyway, and while I was stopping by there to look for a particular item, which they didn't have what I wanted, bummer. So I started browsing the games section etc. I ended up getting some cheap little 3lb hand weights I've been wanting to get and while I was in the game section.... I found something staring right back at me -calling out to me "pick me up and look at me!" "Cinda has mentioned she'd like to get back into doing puzzles again and she particularly likes the ones with lots of color though..." This one 1500 piece puzzle is gorgeous and filled with lots of color and by golly it's sooooo beautiful esp artistically gorgeous that if she even hesitates for a moment when I give it to her, I'd gladly take it and keep it myself lol. I will tell her this too ;) And the cool thing about this puzzle is when I mention that it's artistically gorgeous I do not mean in the nature beauty way... it looks like a masterpiece of artwork! And looking at it reminds me of all the conversations she and I have had... it suits our friendship. ;)
Well, Cinda is a dear acquaintance of mine who has become a sweet friend. I met Cinda in the office of my apt complex where she works and operates the office business. She is a total sweetheart and I couldn't resist the urge to grab this fun gift and present it to her since she did say that she'd like to get back into doing puzzles... I know she'll like it...at least the thought and esp since she did comment that she likes the ones that have lots of colors. I'm very pleased with finding this puzzle and would ya know it... it was the only one present among the other puzzles. Granted, I could've waited and gone to a different Walmart later and maybe, maybe, find the same puzzle again... but if you're like me, and you do that, chances are -that exact item is nowhere to be found. Such is my luck at times. So I decided 'why not?' This will certainly make her day and spreading some sunshine is always something I enjoy doing.
Even today I gave two bright pink marshmallow bunny treats to two different co-worker friends. And to see the reaction of these two friends...separate occasions... both light up when I gave it to them, made even my heart sing with joy!
How often do you surprise people (not just family or well-known friends) but acquaintances that you see pretty often with a surprise gift that will make them smile, maybe even tear up because someone thought of them that very moment and gave them a sweet gift? I love doing these things. It brings such warmth and love to my soul. I love seeing people be shocked or surprised in a fun way for a change.
Sooooo my suggestion to anyone reading this... is to ACT on such feelings when they present themselves. LISTEN to those around you who see on occasion and only chat briefly with, but maybe need a nice little bit of sunshine - HELL who doesn't need it? LOL.... we all can use a little ray of sunshine here and there...
So listen to those around you and even when they remark a fleeting little thought about something they like or would like... and they would never suspect you or anyone to act on it... surprise them with that little joy and PLEASE let me know about it! Have fun with it ... it doesn't have to be anything expensive... in fact, it's the small little things that always mean the most anyway. It may even just be a hug extended to someone who looks like they really need one. It may be only purchasing a soda from a vending machine and handing it to someone while they stand in front of a store or something waiting for a cab... I don't know... but these little experiences are the most fun!
Maybe it's just practicing a talent ... share your talent! Think of ways this is possible and then act on it...
Please do something joyful and sweet for an acquaintance or stranger alike... and please report back and let me know how it worked out. And esp blog about it and let's start a chain reaction of others doing the same!
We can do our own GIVE rather than GET just like Oprah's new challenge show... and spread the joy in giving! It truly is amazing what a difference we can make, even one person... but encourage others to do the same and let's see how many people we can get to join our bandwagon... and tell them to report it too. We may even choose to do this at least once a week... or more than that if we are able... and whoever we do nice things for... remember it doesn't have to be grand... we want to keep it small and ongoing... and when the person responds asking how to pay back... or do anything in return... let's do as the child did in the movie PAY IT FORWARD and tell them to return the gesture to someone else when the opportunity presents itself. Just being a little bit nicer... makes leaving the world we came into a bit nicer than it was when we arrived. ;)
Let's make a difference y'all....
My sincere luv and joy,
Christy ;)

That is an awesome posting!! Truly inspirational....and I am going to take your challenge & just act on the feelings I get when I think, "Hey, I should get her that bubble gum since she asked me for some the other day and i didnt have any."...or something like that.
I agree, if more people would do little random actos of kindness even just once a day...think of the wonderful world we would live in!!!!
Love Ya!!!
Merrianne
p.s. shoot....i am definitely not a WalMart hater!!!!!
Exactly! I thought of Spencer today as I know he loves those Easter peanut butter reese's peanut butter eggs... and I bought a pack of them the other day and brought 'em in to work, I have a nice stash of munchies in all our desk drawers - tee hee ;)
So I was gonna chat with the guy who sits behind me and I grabbed one of those yummy pb bars and told him I felt like being generous and did he like them? He said that he only likes a few candy bars and reese's are about one of the ones he really likes and he totally luvs the Easter pb/choc eggs! he said he had just seen the commercial for them and asked if I had seen it... I haven't yet, but gave one to him and he was super happy! tee hee :)
And before he left tonight, thanked me again for it ;)
Gotta luv being nice ;)
LuvYa,
Christy
Spencer and I LOVED talking with you on the phone today!!! I think we talked for SEVERAL HOURS! It was awesome!!! After Spencer was talking to you for a while, he was like telling me to pick up the other phone so we three can all talk together at the same time.....it was so great to hear your voice & chat! :) I REALLY HOPE you will be able to come out here in 2 weeks. That would be soooo great. We will have fun and relax some, too. :) You will get to experience OUR NECK OF THE WOODS. Well....gotta run!
LOVE YOU,
MErrianne
Hey Christy
i enjoyed your post ... totally agree with you that we should always be looking for the opportunities to "Give" rather than "get". You've always been such a giving person! that's a great characteristic!
love
Spencer
p.s.
I love the Reese pb eggs.
Thank you Spence.
Glad you enjoyed the post. I had fun writing it as I luv topics such as this one. Giving is FUN! And I luv the reactions of people when they least suspect it.
Thank you for the compliment, I do enjoy giving much more than receiving. The joy in giving by far surpasses the joy in getting ;)
I know huh? I luv the Reese's pb eggs too! Soooo yummmmy! It was fun to see my cube neighbor at work grin ear to ear when I offered one to him. I loved it so much, I gave him another one last night before I left work tee hee. It made me think of you ;)
LuvYa,
Christy
